Support Pet Survivors

There is a known link between domestic violence in the home targeting pets, children, and partners.
A reported ~50% of victims delay leaving their abuser out of concern for their pets.

Maintaining pet-friendly accommodations at domestic violence shelters is an important step in promoting safety for these families.
​
Fortunately, SLO County's domestic violence organization, Lumina Alliance, has pet friendly accommodations. However, they are in need of partnering veterinary practices to occasionally offer assistance with updating vaccinations and providing boarding for some pets (ex. if the family has more than 2 pets in need of sheltering).
